I've been a machinist since 1977. Making components out of exotic metals for the aerospace industry has been a major part of my career. Though primarily a machinist (on manual machines as well as CNC), I've also done quality control, shop supervision, and been a part-time instructor at a community college. I use this experience to design and manufacture my own tooling for woodworking as well as making the metal bases that my vases feature.

I've also dabbled in woodworking for about as long. Woodworking has not been a career occupation but more of a hobby activity. Hard woods and exotic woods are what I particularly enjoy making things with, and usually on my wood turning lathe that my father gave me many years ago. I don't recall how I got started making small flower vases from wood, my original area of interest, but I have since moved into making shrines for Catholic statues, lamps, and insect cages.
